Teaching Philosophy
Next to respect, I believe music is the most important gift one human being can give to another. Plato, one of the world’s greatest philosophers, said: “Music gives a soul to the universe, wings to the mind, flight to the imagination and life to everything.”
My teaching reflects this ideology. Each student is treated as an individual and is given a firm technical grounding. From here each is able to appreciate and enjoy their music and therefore be creative and thoughtful in their music performance.
Piano is my major instrument. I teach all styles, including classical, jazz and popular from beginner to Licentiate level, from the age of 6 to 100. If required, I use the AMEB and TCL examination systems.
Harpsichord Tuition
involves both Baroque performance technique and Continuo realisation.
Flute, Clarinet and Saxophone tuition
includes all styles from beginner to grade 8. I recommend that students do not begin before the age of 9. I also accompany students for instrumental examinations.
Theory of Music
tuition covers AMEB grades 1 to 6

“Ornaments of the Earth”
A stellar line-up of performers: Judit graduated from the Franz Liszt Academy of Music in 2008 and has performed extensively across Europe and Australia, and most recently in Sydney, Osaka and Seoul in 2014. Margaret studied baroque violin at the Royal Conservatory, The Hague and has performed in many baroque orchestras in Europe and Australia, including the Australian Brandenburg Orchestra. Belinda performed with the Sydney Symphony Orchestra for many years and now does so at University of Queensland and New Zealand. Janet, a regular performer on the Sunshine Coast with Pacific Chamber Players, has recently returned from early music study and performances in Norway and England.

Janet Brewer’s accompaniment was wonderful! She skilfully, dexterously and musically executed the intricate jazz rhythms and nuances with astonishing style and the Chorale and I sincerely thank her for her dedication, time and talent to the music.

Janet “can wrest a brilliant blues sound from any keyboard, but give her a white baby grand and it’s magical!”
